Where Tradition Meets Creativity

About Me

Personal Statement

As an artist, I am deeply inspired by the forces of nature, specifically the dynamic and contrasting elements found in hydrology. The way water moves, carves and shapes its environment is a powerful metaphor for the process of creation itself. My work seeks to explore the delicate balance between light and dark, the quiet flow of water, and the intense, unpredictable force of nature. It is within these contrasts that I find my voice as a contemporary artist, shaping my pieces with a fluid, curved aesthetic that mirrors the organic rhythms of the natural world.

Using traditional techniques such as raising, chasing, and texturing, I transform flat sheets of metal into three-dimensional forms that seem to evolve before the viewer's eyes. For me, watching a form grow from a 2D surface to a fully realised 3D structure is akin to witnessing nature's own process of growth and transformation, it's quiet yet unstoppable force. The act of manipulating materials with time honoured methods, but with my own unique twist, allows me to honour the past while creating something new and dynamic.

Reflection plays a significant role in my work, both literally and conceptually. The play of light across the textured surfaces creates shifting visual experiences, evoking the way natural forces constantly alter and redefine their surroundings. My pieces are not static; they capture a moment in the ongoing, ever-changing flow of energy, whether it's the smooth curve of a river or the intense rush of a storm.

In all my work, I aim to invite the viewer into a space where they can reflect not only the materials and craftmanship, but on the forces of nature that continue to shape the world around us. Through my art, I hope to evoke the sense of transformation and growth that I see in nature, reminding us of the quiet, yet powerful, processes that define our existence.
